TOURNAMENTS

Following the continued success of the Primary School Futsal Tournaments, Football Development Schools (FDS) are pleased to invite schools to the third year 5&6 Futsal Tournament 07. The tournament will take place at the Kettering Leisure Village Arena on Friday 7th December.

The game of futsal originates from South America and is the game, which has helped to develop many of the great players from that continent. It is regarded so highly in South America that the game features within many countries school curriculum, and has participation figures comparable to the 11 aside game. Over the last couple of years, the English FA has recognised the benefits that the game of futsal can bring to developing players and has started to promote the game within the UK.

At FDS we try and encourage each child to play football. With this in mind the tournament will be based around each team having as much playing time as possible.

The tournament day is indoors and has a capacity of 12 teams. To avoid disappointment please submit your team/s (max 2 teams) as soon as possible, with a £10 deposit (non-refundable) by Friday November 30th. If there is excessive interest we may look to have a second tournament day.

The coaching staff at FDS have been delighted by the improvement and enthusiasm shown by schools to develop this form of the beautiful game, with many of the schools taking time to learn and prepare for the tournament, with one school even taking the opportunity to make it part of the schools curriculum. Now we just need the rest of the county/country to follow this great example.
