GOALKEEPER'S SCHOOL

Football Development Schools are delighted to be able to offer a great opportunity to goalkeepers in the local area. Finding a highly experienced and highly qualified goalkeeping coach is a very rare commodity for any club whether they are dealing with professional clubs or grass roots. In providing elite coaching FDS have been very aware that the standard of all coaching must be of the highest calibre and so following an extensive search and much patience we are delighted to welcome to our coaching team Kevin Oldham. Kevin has a wealth of experience and helped develop some top young goalkeepers in today’s game. He is well respected within the goalkeeping community and provides FDS with the perfect opportunity to take our Development Centre and Academy goalkeepers a step further towards reaching their potential.

KEVIN OLDHAM
Kevin is a highly qualified coach, with him being qualified to UEFA B standard at both out field and goalkeeping disciplines. Putting these qualifications into perspective, many goalkeeping coaches within the professional game do not have the UEFA B goalkeeping badge.

Kevin has worked in a number of youth programmes over two decades, having worked in Peterborough United’s highly acclaimed Academy of the early 1990’s before joining Northampton Town in 2003 where he worked closely with now Nottingham Forest and England U19 goalkeeping coach Dave Watson. He currently works within Histon’s Academy along with having his own goalkeeping school in the Peterborough area. Having worked with a number of top coaches within the English game the fact Kevin is prepared to come and work with FDS is a huge coup for the whole organisation.

Goalkeepers who have benefited from Kevin’s expertise and development minded sessions are Luke Steele (Peterborough United, Manchester United, Coventry City), Lee Crockett (Manchester United U18), John Chattfield (Luton Town & Peterborough United), Chris Dunn (Northampton Town).

FDS GOALKEEPING SCHOOL
Having been lucky enough to experience some of Kevin’s goalkeeping sessions at first hand. The developmental nature and enthusiasm he demonstrates consistently means FDS have full trust and confidence that our goalkeeping school will be second to no one within our region. Kevin will bring a professionalism to the goalkeeping sessions which means whether you are a goalkeeper or out field player, we believe our players will be receiving the best coaching possible in helping them reach their potential.

In providing this opportunity to goalkeepers we select to come into the programme, we will be using some of the best facilities region wide to host the school. Rothwell have spent millions of pounds in producing excellent facilities and we are delighted to be using their Rubber Crumb astro-turf at this venue.

Goalkeepers will be selected to attend the school, so that we can create the best possible environment for all the players to learn. Goalkeeping is a specialised position so the group numbers will remain small enabling the boys to receive the best attention from Kevin’s expertise. Individual’s invited should have a strong will to improve their goalkeeping and show considerable dedication in mastering the skills they will be taught. There is no substitute to hard work, and the sessions will reflect this ethos.

“Kevin is an extremely dedicated coach, his professionalism is second to none, he is on prokeepers list of approved coaches and has worked for us in the past. I first met Kevin some 8 years ago, I was introduced to Kevin through Malcolm Webster, he can organise many different sessions, and can work with big or small numbers of keepers. I am happy to recommend Kevin on a personal basis.”

Fred Barber, Bolton Wanderers Football Club

“Having known Kevin for a number of years I am delighted to submit a reference for him.

Kevin after a long history of senior football, has taken his experience into coaching. He has frequently watched my coaching sessions in the past to gain knowledge of coaching 12-20 keepers at the time.

I have been happy to use Kevin to help me during busy periods, and he has worked at one of my weeklong summer camps, in Alsager Campus, Crewe. He was also invited to coach in Canada, a difficult week in which he acquitted himself well. Kevin has acquired the FA’s goalkeeping badges, and put in tremendous amounts of work to achieve it. I would have no hesitation in calling upon Kevin again in the future.”

Malcolm Webster, Southampton Football Club

“It is crucial that young goalkeepers receive coaching as early as possible, Kevin not only give you coaching but also a wealth of experience that has help developed some outstanding young goalkeepers. The fact that Kevin has gained both the UEFA ‘B’ goalkeeper and out field coaching licence’s is testament to not only to his goalkeeping knowledge but also his over all understanding of the game, something that is crucial for the modern goalkeeper”

“I have coached with Kevin on several occasions and have been very impressed by his knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment when it comes to helping young goalkeepers progress. That is why I fully support his coaching philosophy and would advice any young goalkeeper to attend his sessions because ultimately it is coaches like Kevin that help professional clubs like ours find the best goalkeeping talent around”

Jim Hollman, Norwich City Football Club
