DECEMBER: EASTER TOUR 2006

We have entered an U/11 team and an U/13 team in an International Youth Football Tournament being held in Holland next Easter. The U/11s will be playing 7-a-side in an Open Tournament., whereas the U/13s will be playing 11-a-side in an Elite Tournament, against the likes of Brondby, Denmark and Djurgaarden, Sweden.

Places for this tour are limited. We have spaces for only 24 players in total. We will be taking 10 U/11s and 14 U/13s. European age groups are slightly different to ours. They are based on calendar years rather than school years. So the U/11 team is open mainly to players born in 1995 and the U/13 team is open mainly to boys born in 1993. However we are also allowed to play 3 “over age” players in each age group so long as they are no more than 6 months older. So the effective age range to be considered for the tour is July 1992 – December 1995.

We intend to invite players to join the tour, and intend to select as strong a team as possible. To help us make our selection we are holding a trials day at Grendon Hall on Saturday 17th December. This is open to any U/11-U/13 player who is keen to join the tour. Please phone 01733 757356 leaving your name and development centre if you will be attending the trial.

We are playing on grass. Please arrive in professional dress (shirt and tie) and bring normal training kit incl. rainjacket. Also bring a high-carbohydrate snack and plenty to drink. Meet 10:00. Depart 12:30. Cost £3.

The dates of the tour are Friday 14th to Tuesday 18th April. The likely cost is about £150 per person. The trip is definitely going ahead. We have already booked our accommodation which will be in a holiday park near Venray in Holland.

Yours sincerely
