SEPTEMBER: DEVELOPMENT CENTRES STARTING BACK

As we hit the final few days of the School Holidays, both Development Centre players and coaches can look forward to getting back into the swing of things for the start of the weekly Development Centres. Many of the players have continued to work with the coaches over the summer months in a number of initiatives, with a number of boys staking a claim for a trial at the Centre of Excellence. The highlight of the summer, has to have been the residential course, which saw 38 boys work with the coaches for 3 days at Fletton House, Oundle. The first FDS tournament also saw some pleasing results with the representative Development Centre teams mixing well to produce some very good individual performances.

Moving forward into the new term the coaches will continue to work on developing each player individually, creating players that are technically good while having the right mentality to progress with their football.

Over the coming months the coaching staff will also be looking to create more match time for each age group, as it is important that the players can start to develop some tactical awareness. FDS have also been working hard to find a good kit supplier for training kit for the boys. While this task has taken a considerable time, the coaches hope to be able to announce details shortly, and provide the players with a good quality product that is not too expensive.

Over the summer, no players have been released by the Development Centre staff, so if you are not sure of any infomation or have failed to recieve any details regarding your Development Centre, please contact the appropriate coach and they will be happy to help you out.

Having been in business since April, Football Development Schools have made pleasing progress in creating the best possible learning environment for our players. As we look to grow in the future, we are now looking to develop further. During September a new Development Centre is to be set up in Rugby, which will help create even more opportunities for children to step up to the Centre of Excellence at Northampton Town.
