MARCH: FDS UNDER 8's v FDS UNDER 9's
Unfortunately the fixture arranged against Skill ‘7’ at under 8 and under 9 at Stamford Junior School had to be changed on the morning of the games as the opposition could not provide a team at these age groups.
It was disappointing to both coaches and players, however with both sets of players raring to go we decided to play our under 8’s against our under 9’s, which turned out to be an excellent exercise for both sets of players. The facilities at Stamford Junior School were top notch and the pitches would be the envy of many Academies.
Both sets of players were set up in a similar manner to the Northampton Town Centre of Excellence teams, playing 2-3-1 in the 7-a-side match. The skill, determination and creativity on display were tremendous from both teams. Players who particularly caught the eye on this occasion were Louis Diamond, Callum Westwood and Will Lee.
The professional attitude shown by all players on and off the pitch was excellent and Scott and myself look forward to working with boys in the near future.
