FEBRUARY: NEWARK LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE TEAM v FDS
On a cold blustery evening FDS made the long trip up the A1 to play a Newark League representative side. Coaches Angus Meichan and Howard Willmott ended the evening feeling the exercise had been a good learning experience for the players against a good technical team from Nottinghamshire.
Following on from recent training sessions and the recent match days, the players have started to understand the work ethic required of elite sports people. This manifested itself into a good energetic display both in attack and defence. The coaches were particularly impressed with some fine demonstrations of positional awareness by certain individuals and believe a foundation has been set in developing the boys further.
Individuals who deserve special mention are Sam Hearn, Connor Montone, Kieran and Jordan Hearn all these players demonstrated a number of pleasing aspects to their performances.
With an ever developing relationship with our friends from Newark, we would like to extend our thanks to there management staff and players for their hospitality and professionalism during the fixture and look forward to hosting them in the not to distant future.
