APRIL: FDS v HARBOROUGH MINIS
F.D.S selected teams at both under 7’s and under 8’s for a fixture against Harborough Mini’s last week, with both coaches and players looking forward to the game.
The under 7’s team were coached by Howard and Kristian, who were both very pleased with the effort and attitude of all the boys involved (pictured below). Our philosophy with all age groups revolves around quality of performance over the result, in particular the players having the confidence to show their individual abilities whilst learning how to play their position for the team. The boys started the game with great individual play whilst struggling with the understanding of their positions. However throughout the game the learning and understanding of team shape progressed greatly, which was excellent. Going forward with more fixtures this is the area we will look to concentrate on, as the technical ability of all the boys was very good.
The under 8’s were coached by Angus and Scott, who were very pleased with the performance of the boys. Charlie Brewster (Northampton Town, Youth Development Officer) was also there to assess the boys with respect to next years under 9 Centre of Excellence squad, with six of the boys pushing their case for next year’s squad. Well done lads!
Football Development Schools would finally like to thank Harborough Mini’s for their hospitality and look forward to playing them again in the near future.
