NOVEMBER: FUTSAL GRAND FINAL - BRILLIANT ORANGE
The impressive inter-school futsal trophy will sit proudly in the Havelock Junior School trophy cabinet for the next year, as the school saw off the threat of Rothwell Juniors to become the first winners of the tournament.
Played in an exceptional spirit, Havelock's new age brand of "total football" produced a fine spectacle for the final with dynamic attacking play seeing them hit the target regularly with Rothwell finding the back of the net altogether harder to find. Rothwell did though produce times of sustained pressure, but they found the final ball/shot always harder to find and were often hit with devastating counter attacks.
Aiding the spirit of the competition, Rothwell never gave up trying with a number of exceptional performances in the team. Special mention should be made of the Rothwell goalkeeper who produced some fine saves to counter Havelock's attacking instincts.
Ultimately the plaudits were reserved for the Desborough out fit, as through the tournament they produced the most exhilarating performances. Scoring a massive number of goals, Havelock have set a high bench mark for future tournaments.
FDS would like to take this opportunity to thank all the schools who entered the tournament. The spirit and enthusiasm in which every single game was played was a credit to every school. We hope to see the schools returning for the year 3&4 tournament in the spring, along with spreading the word of Futsal to more schools.
