NEWS - APRIL: SCHOOL FUTSAL - TWO MORE CONVERTS
The saying "Rome was not built in a day, but bits were." would sum up the ongoing battle to develop the game of futsal in Northamptonshire.
The proposed Northampton tournament, part of the Football Development Schools (FDS) sustainable development of the game attacted only two schools,
yet rather than getting down hearted about this, FDS were greatly encouraged by the standard of the match which took place and the desire of the
schools to see the game developed in the region.
The closely contested match between St Gregory's and Boothville school saw all players show a surprising amount of skill and ability which
was very pleasing to FDS, and our interest in player development. The contest was massively enjoyed by the players, and the teachers could
see the benefits in supporting the game moving forward.
With two more schools to be added to our school futsal community the momentum to developing a sustainable future for the sport in primary school
football continues to grow.
The challenge moving forward is to bring more schools to the table and spread the word, but with a strong dedicated number of supporters of the game
we can look forward at a bright future in providing quality provsion of football and futsal while improving participation within the school football
scene
FDS would like to thank both St Gregory's and Boothville Primary schools for their attendance and enthusiasm during their time with us.
