OCTOBER: U11/12's DEVELOPMENT MATCH

Grendon Hall again provided the setting for selected development centre players to play in a training match, working towards developing the boys tactical understanding. On a sunny autumn morning boys from five of the FDS development centres arrieved looking ready for business and a morning working towards the aim of impressing coaches Angus Meichan and Howard Willmott. In giving the boys the match practice, the coaches hope to reduce the gap in the players understanding from their Sunday teams to the Centre of Excellence. A gap which the coaches see within the games. The players demonstate excellent technical ability, but will often be ineffective due to a lack of understanding of their options within the positions they play, both in defence and attack. From the mornings play the coaches were able to take some definate positives with the boys taking on infomation and presenting themselves extremely well, with a special mention to Thomas Buller, Jaidon Gherra and John Joe who all adapted their game to very high standard, taking on infomation and carrying it out effectively within the game. Angus and Howard would also like to make special mention to the parents who were present, they were a credit to the boys allowing them the space to flourish within the environment along with encouraging them in a positive manner.
