JUNE: LATEST DEVELOPMENT CENTRE NEWS

Since taking over the Development Centres for Northampton Town FC the coaches have been pleased with the progress all players are making at the different venues with 9 of the 10 U9‘s for next season coming through the development centre system. We have also seen a number of players going into the Centre of Excellence at the older age groups with some players succeeding, others yet to be decided upon and a few who were just below the grade. It is true to say though the boys who come through the development centre system fair far better than those boys who come straight form the local leagues and the development centre boys always conduct themselves impeccably. Currently we have 10 Development Centres around Northamptonshire and surrounding counties and over the coming year we are looking at expanding this number by one or two. The obvious constraint being that we must maintain the quality of our work with each development centre being staffed by Centre of Excellence coaches, a position which makes us a market leader in the development centre field and allows us to have a two tier structure of Development Centre and Centre of Excellence rather than the pyramid systems adopted by other clubs. The website is now up and fully functional. Please take time to read the different articles we post, as we are constantly looking at putting up new posts to keep you all up to date with what FDS is doing. Moving forward we are pleased to be creating further opportunities for our players, with the residential being organised in August, along with a couple of Tournament Days during the rest of the Summer Holidays. We are hoping both these ventures are well supported as players are able to learn a number of skills which may help them push forward in the future. FDS will also be organising its first Tournament this summer, and having scouted at a number of tournaments over the years we are hoping to using this experience in producing a successful annual festival of football, based on a formula of how we believe children should be developed through the sport. On returning in September the coaches will hopefully be in a position to give you details of obtaining FDS training kit, we are currently surveying different companies and products, ensuring we get a good price while having a quality product. Over the remainder of the current term the boys can look forward to receiving their second assessment of the year. The players need to keep working hard over the next weeks both in sessions and at your homework. Finally thank you for you patience and support since Football Development Schools have taken on the Development Centres.
