NEWS - FEBRUARY: ACADEMY FUTSAL

Football Development Schools welcomed Histon and Cambridge United to a futsal afternoon at the KLV Arena in Kettering. With 8 teams being made up from the three youth programmes.

It was encouraging that all the teams where prepared to try and play the game with skill and thought which is required to be successful at this game.

With all evenly contested matches results would swing both ways as the afternoon progressed, and the learning outcomes would be mixed throughout the day. The pleasing aspect for all the participants was the fact that with six games per team there was loads of playing time, which meant the players could try many different things out during the day.

At FDS the learning out came in the shape of being able to maintain the highest of standards throughout a competition. The excellent start to proceedings where their was great focus and energy could not be sustained and the performance levels dropped as we progressed through the fixtures. If the boys are to perform to their potential the underpining values of the highest professional standards at all times is key. When the players became comfortable and complacent these standards were reflected on the pitch.

Moving forward the coaches will be looking at ensuring there is an energy and purpose to improve these standards by all individuals in the programme, and the positive outcome would be a move towards being sharper both on and off the pitch. The coralation between the two is massive and the foundation to which the FDS programme is built.

We would like to thank Cambridge United and Histon for bringing teams to the event and we will look to build a this into a bigger event in the future.
