Futsal Club
Futsal is the international 5-a-side form of the game. Its origins are in South America, and it is growing within this country all the time. We are still miles behind the rest of the world, where professional Futsal leagues are common, and the use of Futsal is acknowledged as a valuable developmental tool with young players. It has differences from 5-a-side we may be familiar with. The Futsal ball is heavier, with reduced bounce, meaning that play on the floor is enhanced. The game is also very quick and intense due to the 4 second restarts. These aspects help to improve quick passing, interchanging of positions, quick play off the ball as well as creativity in 1 v1 and creativity of passing.
Football Development Schools firmly believe in and support Futsal in our region. We regularly use the Futsal balls and techniques to enhance the technical ability of our players and also enter Futsal tournaments across all age groups. Our use of Futsal will continue to grow with participation in a Futsal league this coming season as well as a tour to France before Christmas for an international Futsal festival.
