How do I get involved?
The selection process for Development Centre players is based on 2 main qualities that we look for; Attitude and Ability.
Ability means that players will be able to handle the technical demands of the coaching at Development Centre whilst a good attitude is required to practice well, and repeat the different skills we cover. As players progress within FDS attitude becomes the most important thing.
Players are selected in a number of ways with most players invited in by an FDS coach at a Community session. This is usually PE lessons, Afterschool Clubs and also Holiday Courses. We also scout players in matches, where we look for players who are comfortable on the ball, who make good decisions on the ball and show a good attitude. We also take recommendations and give trial opportunities to players who are keen to get involved who we haven’t previously seen. We believe that coaching and hard work are the most important things in long term development, so players having the attitude to want to join a Development Centre is a good start and is why we are prepared to offer players the chance to trial at sessions.
We will be holding free trials on Monday 13th & Monday 20th September from 5.30pm – 7pm at Fleckney Sports Centre for a brand new development centre starting this September in Fleckney. Email or phone to book your place on the free trial!
